Beech Cottage - Leyburn

Description

This wonderful example of a village character cottage has much to offer. The area lends itself to walking, hiking and cycling as well as having magnificent views. The cottage itself remains full of its old world charm and yet has most modern appliances for your comfort, including a fully fitted kitchen for all of your culinary needs and a newly fitted bathroom and shower. The rooms throughout are tastefully furnished and very comfortable, and the wood burning fire makes it toasty and warm even during those cooler months rendering it absolutely ideal year round. The cottage and surrounding area will leave you feeling totally relaxed and resplendent and wanting to come again and again. So no matter what time of year we look forward to welcoming you to this little slice of peaceful village life. Thoralby is a village in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. It lies south of Aysgarth, is within a mile of both Newbiggin and West Burton and is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is 23.5 miles south west of the County Town of Northallerton. The village is located between Littleburn Beck to the south west and Heaning Gill to the north east on the north bank of Bishopdale Beck. The B6160 road runs parallel to the village on the south bank of the beck. As a final footnote Thoralby was featured in the British television series All Creatures Great and Small, in the episode "If Music Be the Food of Love". Leyburn is a market town in the district of Richmondshire, North Yorkshire, England sitting above the northern bank of the River Ure in Wensleydale, famous for its cheese. Although a small town, Leyburn has its own railway station on the re-opened Wensleydale Railway which offers tourist rides throughout the dale, mostly on diesel multiple units but occasionally on a steam train. The town is a centre for walking, cycling and general sight-seeing, especially the waterfalls for which Wensleydale is also renowned. The town is famous for the Leyburn Shawl, an escarpment of about 1.5 miles in length which provides panoramic views of rolling Wensleydale. Annually there is a Dales Festival of Food and Drink, held over May Day bank holiday weekend. There is also an annual 1940s weekend, which takes place each year at the end of July, step back in time.

Sometimes given the nickname of “God’s Own County” thanks to its lush green countryside and wild expanses of moor land, Yorkshire is the largest county in England. It is home to over 800 attractions, from breweries to museums, castles to zoos, and World Heritage Sites to breathtaking rides. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
